Currently, my business is only directed at students at UF and only offers what a partner grocery store offers. However, I hope to expand to include organic and non-GMO options that can be incorporated from other stores rather than just one.
Interviews:
With this feedback, I hope to expand early in my business to organic/non-GMO options. I hope to make connections with other professionals and possibly partner with different stores. I also hope to be able to offer this business to first disabled residents in the area, and then to everyone if all is successful. I also would like to move into same-day delivery. Therefore, I would have multiple trucks going around campus and the surrounding area. You could place your order by calling or on the app and select the option for same-day or next-day delivery. I would also like to offer a time selection at one point, so customers can select a window of time that they would like it to be delivered.
New Market:
My new market includes the disabled and year-round residents of Gainesville along with students. I spoke to a few residents but none were comfortable with a recording of them. Therefore, I got their feedback and they said that they would most definitely use this service on busy days or when they need a large quantity of grocery (one gave me the example of a birthday party; she was having a party for her son and she said she knew exactly what she would need to buy, and therefore, it would be so much easier if this service was available). One man recommended same-day delivery as a student did as well. Therefore, I think this improvement is very important. I think this would allow for families to alleviate the stress of getting everyone together to go to the store (especially young families) and disabled individuals could feel much more independent.
I think that this market was fairly predictable. I did not expect to get quite the reaction I did. I expected a simple "good idea," however, I got really helpful feedback and they all praised the idea, saying that it would help even more people than what I expect, which was very exciting. This market seems even more appealing than I thought. I will need to start with students to get my business going, however, I think I would move to this target market fairly quickly.
Hi Emily,
ReplyDeleteI think this is a great opportunity but also one with similar competition that exists within the same market. I like that you are expanding to include organic and non-GMO products. In my post I talked about incorporating a lifeguarding drone into ocean rescues. Here's the link if you'd like to check it out:

Emily,
ReplyDeleteYou definitely have a great concept and basic strategy. I think a way to possibly improve your plan would be to think about offering your own line of baked good or produce or some sort of item that is unique to business. This will help you separate yourself from competitors and make your company have a proprietary aspect. If you get a chance here is the link to my post. http://ericchyattesblog.blogspot.com/2016/04/whats-next.html
Hey Emily!
ReplyDeleteSpeaking from someone who knows many organic-fanatics in the Gville area (I, myself, one) I think your idea will suit a large group in our student body. Many grocery stores, especially those that specialize in local produce, would be more than happy to render their services with your idea because they tend to be more open to cooperation if that means creating sustainable products. Good luck moving forward and here's my blog if you were curious about my current/future conquests: http://ent3003anneperry.blogspot.com.es/2016/04/whats-next.html
Hey Emily,
ReplyDeleteGreat job! You have a great idea in expanded into the Non-GMO market. With your business concept you could educate those college students that just may not have the time to realize the effects of GMO's. Unfortunately I did not have a post for this assignment but check out my venture concept on my blog if interested: http://kevinleddysblog.blogspot.com/
HelloEmily,
ReplyDeleteI think you have a great idea with the food delivery service. There are a lot of students on campus that do not even have a means of transportation. Some people might have a scooter, but that’s not the best way to carry groceries. I also think it helps in the safety factor where you don’t have young students out at night traveling the streets. I am also amazed how the organic and non-gmo products are being much more sought after by college students. I think this is a great trend for the wellness of our young people.I did not complete this assignment but If you would like to see my idea, check it out at; http://9to5isoverrated.blogspot.com/2016/03/elevator-pitch-3.html
